Happy thanksgiving! I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family. I wanted to start by saying than you for all your support in your learning. As I am touching base with parents, it is wonderful to hear how your students are learning and enjoying their time at school.
This week we talked about being thankful for the blessing we have and how we are blessed to be a blessing. The kids were feeling like the things they were thankful for were small so we wrote them on leaves and tied the to a branch. Once we all put our blessings on the tree, we realized how much of an impact these things we have in our lives as a whole.
We are working on our Do Something posters for our video. The kids are really excited to get started on filming. Once the video is put together, we will be sharing it with the school and the class.
In social studies, most students are now just putting on their final touches of their provincial floats. We will be sharing them next week and moving on to start our study of the regions. The students have a strong ability to pick out important information and visually represent the information. It is great to see.
We have started our unit on operations – multiplication and division. I will be sending home some practice for math facts at home. I will be working on strategies with the students as we talk about fact families.
We were fortunate to have some students from the Leadership class help us in Phys Ed this week, running some drills for us. The kids really enjoyed working with the older kids.
Please return swim forms on Tuesday. We are going swimming on October 16, 2015 after lunch. Students will not be able to attend without a signed permission form.
Volunteer opportunities – Please email me and let me know if you are interested in volunteering in the class for specific events or on a regular basis. Coming up we will need some support when we build our motorized cars. I will be putting together a schedule and sending home the volunteer forms with your children once I hear from you. Thank you in advance.
Once again, thank you so much for your support in our learning. The students are showing excitement to be in school which is awesome to see.
